Here is some information on the four local beaches:

 

BREAKWATER PARK

Located on the west side of Mattituck Inlet, it is a life guarded Long Island Sound beach with restrooms, playground, and parking areas for residents with proper parking permits. A beach wheelchair available for the disabled patrons. This location also includes beach volleyball courts where leagues play during the summer season. Day passes for beach parking are available for nonresidents at $15/car and may be obtained from the attendant at the beach gate. Residents may purchase a season pass for $5.

BAY AVENUE PARK BEACH

The Bay Ave Park is the site of a Little League playing field, two tennis courts,
and a small wetlands area along James Creek.

BAILIE BEACH

Located on the east side of Mattituck Inlet, this park has a quiet sandy beach, dunes, and a tidal wetland natural area that are home to a variety of birds.  Bailie Beach Lodge is nestled in the dunes along the Long Island Sound, with space to accommodate 150 people.  The Lodge is a scenic location to host family and group functions. In the main hall, there are tables and chairs provided, a large commercial kitchen, and restrooms. This prime waterfront location has panoramic views of the inlet and creek as well as Long Island Sound.  Scout troops frequently use this park and beach area and Scout troops from outside the area may use this facility with availability and by permit.

VETERAN’S MEMORIAL

Located on Peconic Bay at the terminus of Bay Avenue, Mattituck Park District
Office is situated here as well as park buildings, parking area, bocce court, shuffleboard and horseshoe pitch, as well as a life guarded beach area with restrooms. A beach wheelchair is available for disabled patrons. There is a Community Room, available for meetings and community events. This prime bay front location with sweeping views of Peconic Bay will be available for rental in the near future. Please call District Office for details. There is a picnic/Bar-B- Que area located to the west on this site and is available for residential use. Bookings are made in advance by contacting the District Office. The area has water and electricity, picnic tables, use of restrooms, access to the beach and on site parking.
